Licensed Funeral Director – Confidential Opening

An established funeral home in Bergen County, New Jersey is seeking an experienced, dependable New Jersey Licensed Funeral Director to join our team.

Position Responsibilities

The Funeral Director will assist with all aspects of day-to-day funeral home operations, including:

• Meeting with families and making funeral arrangements
• Directing and coordinating funeral services
• Greeting and assisting families, visitors, clergy, and other service providers
• Preparing and handling decedents, including embalming when necessary
• Performing removals and transfers
• Completing and coordinating required permits, death certificates, and other documentation
• Coordinating with cemeteries, crematories, clergy, hospitals, nursing facilities, and other outside parties
• Assisting with preparation of the funeral home and chapel before and after services
• Driving funeral vehicles as needed
• Answering phones and assisting families with general inquiries
• Helping ensure that services are carried out professionally, respectfully, and efficiently
• Performing other normal duties associated with the operation of a full-service funeral home

Qualifications

Candidates should:

• Hold a current New Jersey Funeral Director License
• Have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Be professional, dependable, and comfortable working directly with grieving families
• Have strong communication and organizational skills
• Be capable of working independently as well as part of a team
• Be comfortable with the physical responsibilities normally associated with funeral service

Prior funeral home experience is strongly preferred.
